Schools
There are a number of options for schooling your children in Cayman and, schooling options range from wee care and kindergarten all the way through high school and even university. Ex-pat children are not eligible to attend government schools and thus can only apply for entrance to one of the private institutions. It is advisable to make contact with these schools as soon as you know you will be living on the Island. Many schools on Grand Cayman have long waiting lists, especially for the lower grades. In order to have an option at the school of your choice, it is advisable to put your children's names down as soon as possible - even if they are just an infant when you first arrive. We highly recommend that you put your child on several schools' waiting lists and please note that just because your child is on a waiting list at a school this does not guarantee enrolment.
By law the school is required to see a copy of your immigration paperwork which states that your child is listed as a dependant on your work permit. Without this your child cannot be enrolled. The school will also probably want to test your child for placement, the papers for which can be sent to you before you get to the island.
